Dedication & acknowledgments

I dedicate this site to the memory of my Mother, Azema Marie Brouillette Mayeux, and my AVOGEL ancestors. I appreciate their teaching me the ways, customs, medicinal remedies, and the history of their times.

My mother Azema Marie Brouillette Mayeux, my grandmother Alice Roy Mayeux, taught me everything they knew about medicine plants and ways to treat illnesses. My grandfather, son of Joseph Mayeux, taught me how to hunt with a blowgun and how to make "Indian" toys.

Our customs and ways and language were taught to me by my mother and father who had learned it from their parents and relatives. It was my Aunt Nini who told me about our ancestral line from old Colfa to Old Chief Joseph to the other chiefs of our time.

I wish to express my thanks and gratitude also to PhD. Rebecca Saunders Curator of Anthropology Museum of Natural Science and Rob Mann, Regional Archaeology Program, Southeast Louisiana, Museum of Natural Science, LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY

Without whose help and encouragement this site would not have been possible!!!
